I'm Jay. I'm the owner of Tropical Treasure Detectors. I occasionally receive calls from people who have lost something special to them. I try to help when I can, but I’m not always available, so I've established a team of like-minded detectorists who respond to these types of calls. Think of it as “the bat-signal for lost items in Sarasota”. There's no charge for any part of this service.

How it works:
If someone loses an item in the Sarasota area they fill out the form you saw on the previous page. When they click submit their message goes directly to the search team members' email addresses. Those who request help never see searcher email addresses. Searchers don't see the other searcher email addresses. When a request for help is received, searchers may respond directly to the requester, or they may simply ignore it, there is no obligation. If they're available they reach out. If not, they don't. Your inbox will not get flooded with requests. I typically see two or three of these requests per month during the vacation season. Other times of the year I get zero to one per month.

How to Join:
In the interest of providing the best possible outcomes, there is a screening process. Fill out the form below. I want to know if you have decent, beach-capable, metal detecting equipment so include makes models and accessories for pinpointing, digging, etc. I want to know if you're local, so provide an address or at least a street intersection that's near your address. I want to get a sense of your experience level so let me know how long you've been a detectorist. If you have any public social media examples of your detecting please share them. Lastly, let me know what motivated you to apply to be a part of this.
